Brown Sugar Chocolate Scones

Brown Sugar Chocolate Scones with white and milk chocolate chips!

Oh my, these are my favorite type of scones so far. A brown sugar base, soft to the touch and they melt in your mouth. They should not be called scones! Maybe pieces of heaven. I am tooting the horn of these scones but for good reason.

Simple ingredients, easy to make, and super yum! One of my good friend’s daughters loves scones, chocolate chip to be exact. We were working on a recipe for her and we have got one here!! We hope she loves them just as much as we do.

Hera’s Pinch

The base of this recipe is a Brown Sugar Scone, which is just as delicious if you are not looking for those little nuggets of chocolatey sweetness.

Replace the chocolate chips for Toffee chips and we got Toffee scones.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425℉.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a stand mixer, mix the butter and dark brown sugar till it is soft and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the heavy whipping cream and vanilla, mix until combined.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ones until all the dough is combined.
  6. Transfer the dough to a well-floured work surface and add the chocolate and white chocolate chips. Knead in the chips and form the dough into a ball. Flatten the ball into a circle about 1 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into eight wedges. Place the wedges onto a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and brush with egg wash (see note).
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until scones are golden brown.
  9. Cool for ten minutes.
  10. Enjoy!

Notes:

For the Egg Wash add 2 tablespoons of water and one egg to a small bowl and whisk with a fork till both are combined.
